Château Mouton Rothschild

Château Mouton Rothschild

01Château Mouton Rothschild took its name after it was famously acquired by Baron Nathaniel de Rothschild in 1853. Despite the increasingly acknowledged quality of its wine, Mouton aroused very little interests as many were unwilling to make the journey to a then-neglected region. In 1922, Baron Nathaniel’s great grandson Baron Philippe de Rothschild, only 20 years old took control and devoted his whole life to the vineyard. Today the Mouton is the most search of all Bordeaux fine wines. This is due to their popularity arounds the world, especially within the Chinese Market. In 2008 (the year of the ram) Mouton commissioned Chinese painter Xu Lei to design the label. The price was sent skyward due to Chinese demand. In the past the likes of Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali and Andy Warhol have designed Château Mouton’s labels. These factors further boost the demand on certain vintages.
